The new “Beads” Trend

Posted in Uncategorized on October 29, 2008 by Bohanwa

Lately in the dewania most subjects are related the new hobby of collecting beads (Misabee7). Like the mobile phone, the wallet and the watch, the Misbaa7 has become an accessory that every guy ( usually from the Kuwaiti) must Cary one with them as a mark of luxury. Whether your going to the stock market, or visiting family or even doing an everyday chore like going to the co-op to buy milk for the baby, one must cary the mobile in the one hand and beads in the other.

I’ve taken interest in beads recently as at first i thought it was just an object created to keep your hands busy, however now its all about creating a social statement when carrying one.

Most beads you see in the “souq mobarakeya” are cheap ones that range everything from 500 fils to5 kd. Although they do the job, there not what im talking about. Most beads are now becoming a rare item in the market, some beads are so precious in vale that they are considered an investment. For example of the guys recently bought one from a friend for 60kd went to get a price quote from a professional shop and got over 120kd for that one piece.

Other then the fact they look nice and coulorful, eachone create is unique in its on way, from the smell it leaves on your hand to who’s hand created that particulare bead. To tha reason i now have become found of carying that extra accessories, along with the walet, the mobile, the car keys the sunglasses the newspaper with the pen and now the misbaa7!

“VIVA” Imporant Suggestion Box

Posted in Uncategorized on October 14, 2008 by Bohanwa

The next big thing that everybody in Kuwait seems to be talking about is the new tel com company “viva”. Seems the word after chatting about the stock market crash in both international and local, people have been rumoring about what to expect from the new company. Now due to the high expectations of the locals (both Kuwaitis and expats) here in Kuwait and the continues monitoring of the companies profile both on my blog and others, I’ve decided to create a suggestion box for the company to look at and get an idea of what the customers want.

The reason is that your voice is going to be heard! Yes i know someone from the company who continues to read the latest comments on every viva topic i have here, so writing another about what you guys have to say is going to be a great feedback for them to create a good service during their first launch here!

These are what people are suggestion the company should provide!

1. Push-to-Talk. The idea is based on a group of people join this service, whether its family, friends or co-workers and talk to each other like a walky-talky where everyone in that channel can participate in.

2. Free Family calls. Another good idea suggested by a Dr. Samer Baqer in Kuwait University is giving family members who call each other ( E.g mum calling here son etc) free time each month. I know many of us will benefit from this.

3. Weather updates. This is mainly for the fishermen (7adaga), where every few hours you’d get a message telling you when the high/low tide is, which fishing season it is now, how high the tides are etc.

4.Lowering calls. Many of the expats in particular call there families on weakly biases with a limited budgets. Why not offer cheaper calls instead of the hassle of them calling through Skype or other methods of internet calls. Part 2 of lowering calls can be done locally, having cheaper rates then the competition say for at least the first 2 years or so.

5. Month-by-Month. This would be a great service where by we pay one month, and the next is free or paid for by the company!

6. Student Discount. Gaining in to the younger generation is a huge niche market gap which I’ve yet to see. I know that when “Zain” was known as “MTC” their target was teenagers, however it seems they have lost interest as advertisements have become more serious.

7. User Friendly Web. If you would like to encourage people (customers) to join the web for different services, such as paying online, then having an easy to use web interface is a must. Many people don’t pay online due to the complexity involved in the site of “zain”.

As you see these are only Suggessions that i have been able to gather from friends, family, and mostly you guys. If you do have an intersting ideas please let your voice be eard, i asure you that your words will be heard!

The fishing trip…7adaaaag kuwaiti!

Posted in Uncategorized on October 11, 2008 by Bohanwa

Before reading…This article talks to the 7adaga out there as many of the fish and mostala7at are fishing ones!

So its been a long time since us in the dewania have been fishing, could be almost 3 months! Mostly the reason was mathalat wa7id min il shabab! Anyways so yesterdays weather was perfect, and the set-off started at 9:00pm (two hours behind schedule) from masanat fahaheel. After buying the necessary machla (Pepsi, bo6a6, samoon gibin and red bull) and the bait (yim) which was 2 kilos shrimp (kd1.500/Kg), 2 kilos squid (Kd 1/Kg), 1 kilo zory (Kd .500/Kg) and this new type of fish which was the equivalent to maid Kuwaiti..

Anyways as a fisherman (7adaag asleey) i would defently recomend going with the shrip and squid! Yesturdays fishing ended at 8:30am the next day leaving from i7datheeyat “boyaa il safra” with 10 “nawabees” min “il 6ab3ana” many “yimyams” and jelajly and the best of all one large “Nagrooor“. All seen clearly in the pic above!

*NOTE*

I would like to thank Mahmood our captain for the delighful time, his new teaching methods and most of all entertaiing us with the way he kills the “chem”!

صدر الشمال للشاعر محمد عبداللطيف معرفي

Posted in Uncategorized on October 6, 2008 by Bohanwa

Lazim in 6ali3 wayi7 ildewania eshwaya… This is a poem (shi3r) min Mohammed Marafie, which will hopefully satisfy many of the mo7abeen il shi3r. He has promised us a qaseeda every week inshallah! So lets begin the new tradition!

The Dewania “a life of activities”

Posted in Uncategorized on October 6, 2008 by Bohanwa

The dewania use to be a place where only single guys hang out, however with time almost 81.4% of our guys are now “happily” married with at least one child! I’m sure every Kuwaiti and expat knows by now what a dewania is. A place where guys of all ages hang out doing many activates!

Some of the activities that happen:-

1. Chatting (Sowalif) is probably the number one on the list, everything from what your planning to do in your life to talking politics and stock market (borsa) and even whats the best shaving machine to buy.

2.Cussing (ith’3a6) is part of number one. With every sentence one has to end it with an insult, or else everyone gangs up on you and start taking the piss (yeth’3a6oonik).

3. PlayStation 3 has become a must in every dewania. I’m not one to be on the train with the new ps3 in the dewania as this has cut down on activity one!

4. Satellite T.v is a part of the back ground. The 42″ LCD along with the 32″ samsung are switched on almost simultaneously with both showing footie games from “AL Jazeera sport” or showtime movies!

5. Two high quality computers line up next to the t.v’s where both are switched on with games such as counter strike, WOW or even a simple game of monopoly are continuously being played.

6. Playing cards usually starts in the late evening where a group of 4-6 players play for almost 3 hours straight, and depending on how strong the players are the game usually has many observers commenting on every mistake.

7. Food and drink goes around throughout the whole day. The fridge is filled with every type of food, drinks, and chocolates.

As you can see this is just a small taste of what you’ll see in a tradtional (up to date) dewania.  In the near furture i’ll be posting about how to service the dewania, how much the monthly maintenance is and how to satisfy everyone that goes there.

More concerns on Sultan Center!

Posted in Uncategorized on September 19, 2008 by Bohanwa

Thanks to Mark, more of you are concerned with the way sultan center have been lacking in customer care. Currently the dewania is going through an arrangement to do with the past incidents that we faced. They have us a low offer that we decided to reject, not because we want more but because they threatened us with lawsuits for publishing this article online!

To make it loud and clear, every time you go to sultan center its best to cheak on the expiry date, buy the product before complain other wise they will refuse to sell it!

The problem is thats not the only thing that sultan center is doing, in the near future we will release some more disturbing evidence of whats really going on with sultan center, its so extreame that many of the dewania membors are going to sell there shares in the market…Anyways a boycott should surly make give us really results!
